Client: North Cascades Institute
Case Study: Peak analyzed the North Cascades Institute’s carbon footprint, which included Scope 1 and Scope 2 data as well as employee commuting, participant transportation, and business travel data. This effort supports the Institute’s operational goal of evaluating and setting methods for long-term carbon footprint tracking. Peak developed recommendations for future improvements in data collection, mitigating emissions, and purchasing carbon offsets. Peak will present results and recommendations to the Institute’s Board.
Impact: North Cascades Institute is a conservation organization focused on “inspiring environmental stewardship through transformative learning experiences in nature.” Measuring and tracking greenhouse gas emissions reflects the Institute’s commitment to conservation in practice and understanding operational impact. The insights from the annual carbon footprint analysis will enable the Institute to prioritize and implement actions that mitigate their emissions and potentially develop a carbon offsetting strategy as well.
