Peak offers a robust and cost-effective Climate Resilience Roadmap™ – a community-based and inclusive process to support small cities in the Pacific Northwest as they plan and prepare for climate change.
Our team incorporates the best available climate science, community engagement, and strategy deployment to help communities chart a course towards climate resilience. The Climate Resilience Roadmap™ process puts community health and safety, social equity, economic security, and environmental well-being front and center, while building resilience to a changing climate.
Many community leaders face the barriers of limited resources or scattered political will. All the same, they are being asked to prepare their people and communities for the unpredictability, risk, and negative health and safety impacts of climate change.
We can help you create a roadmap for a resilient future.
What’s our process?
Climate Hazard Analysis: Through a high-level climate hazard analysis, Peak will inventory local environmental conditions and analyze climate forecasts to assess the risks and opportunities posed by these projected changes./
Decision-maker Meeting: Peak will organize a presentation and workshop for elected officials and department heads to provide a context for understanding how climate change may affect your community.
Community Workshop: Our team will facilitate a workshop to gather information about community concerns and public interest regarding the preliminary findings of local climate change forecasts.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimate: Peak consultants will conduct a high-level estimate of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by sector, based on local power usage, fossil fuel consumption, and relevant emission inventories.
Resilience Roadmap: Informed by the first two workshops, our team will identify proven GHG emission reduction strategies demonstrated by climate leaders and make recommendations about building community climate resiliency based on hazard ranking and prioritizing climate actions.
Final Briefing for Decision-makers: The Peak team will present the findings and recommendations to city leadership and will solicit feedback to incorporate into the final roadmap.
A final report will include a climate hazard analysis and an action-oriented climate resiliency roadmap including both adaptation strategies and greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies.
