Client: Kombucha Town, Bellingham, WA
Case Study: Peak’s sustainability team helped Kombucha Town maintain certifications for Fair Trade, Non-GMO, and 1% for the Planet and add new organic certified products. Peak provided grant-writing services to Kombucha Town in their application for the Working Washington Round 5 grants.
Fair Trade Certification – Fair Trade USA™ is building an innovative model of responsible business, conscious consumerism, and shared value to eliminate poverty and enable sustainable development for farmers, workers, their families, and communities around the world
Non-GMO Certification – Manufacturers and retailers seek out North America’s most prevalent, third-party verified non-GMO seal. Verification to the Non-GMO Project Standard represents best practices for avoiding genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in consumable products.
1% for the Planet Certification – 1% for the Planet represents a global network of businesses, individuals, and environmental partners tackling our planet’s most pressing environmental issues. 1% for the Planet was founded to prevent greenwashing, certify reputable giving, and provide accountability. The 1% for the Planet certification is given to businesses that donate 1% of annual sales to environmental causes.
Impact: Peak provided extra capacity and technical assistance that allowed Kombucha Town to maintain certifications tied to its sustainability mission and to apply for pandemic-related economic recovery funds.
