Client: Whatcom County, WA
Case Study: Peak facilitated a multi-year collaborative process involving over 80 stakeholders who worked to prioritize and implement system‐wide improvements to the levee system on the Nooksack River. With the System Wide Improvement Framework (SWIF), we completed a key component—the Nooksack River Levee Vegetation Management Plan.
Impact: Managing vegetation along levees is a big deal. This plan represents Whatcom County’s success in collaborating to develop a strategy to better manage vegetation on the Nooksack River levee system. This effort also significantly streamlined the permitting process and identified habitat improvement opportunities.
Testimonial: “I have worked with a lot of consultants and Peak is different. The System Wide Improvement Framework (SWIF) process was successful because Peak knows how to listen. People participated because they felt heard and it was worth their time.” Steve Seymour, retired biologist, Washington State
Testimonial: “David Roberts’ facilitation skills have been a tremendous asset to those of us working to integrate the needs of floodplain landowners with fish and flood interests.
